Pottery is a full circle experience for me. I was initially emersed for ten years learning the craft in tidewater Virginia and eastern North Carolina. After 30 years of non-ceramic career detours in Atlanta, GA, I found myself in a psychiatrist office with a recommendation to return to a former creative passion. At that point I knew there was no denying or turning back. My heart and soul belonged with clay. Asheville has been my home since 2019 and I am honored to be part of the Odyssey Gallery of Ceramic Arts.
Artist’s Statement
In my pottery, the meditative process of throwing on the wheel converges with the creative energy of alteration. Inspired by the Blue Ridge Mountains, my work explores the distinctive tones and transformative qualities of nature, bridging traditional craftsmanship with organic movement. Ultimately, I aspire for my work to serve as a catalyst, encouraging viewers to create memories and find tranquility in both nature's beauty and personal reflection.
