Pots For MANNA
Fifty years ago in another mountain town, in a simpler time, I made pots for a living. Then I moved on to jobs that weren’t as fun but paid the bills. Now, I make pots for the love of it.
Most of my work is wheel-thrown and fired to 2262 degrees. All functional pieces are microwave and dishwasher safe.
I’ve been lucky; I’ve always had a home, a job and enough to eat. After I retired and moved to Asheville, I looked for ways to ‘pay back’ for my good fortune. I began volunteering a few hours a week at MANNA FoodBank but wanted to do more, so I combined my passion for making pottery with my desire to help MANNA feed the one in six people in Western North Carolina that go to bed hungry every night. I donate all proceeds from my pottery sales to Manna FoodBank, which distributes to food centers in the 16 counties in WNC.
Bottom line, I love this area. These mountains are special, and so are the people that live here.
